Hi, Have just developed bad pain in the shoulder and arm after lifting a suitcase yesterday. Am taking methotrexate 5 x 2.5mg weekly. Paracetamol is not touching it. Anyone know if it's ok to take ibuprofen at the same time as methotrexate? Thanks.

Morning!
I have just looked it up on google and it says that paracetamol is fine but ibuprofen isnt as it may cause toxicity. I take co-codamol and methotrexate and it works it I take co codamol every 4 hours. I cant stomach ibuprofen.
Sorry to say but unless you can get to a chemist and double check with them I wouldn't risk it. The chemist may be able to give you paracetamol extra or similar.
Hope this helps a bit and your pain improves. Have you tried a barley cushion or wheat bag? (the ones you pop in the microwave are brilliant)

Hi, Thanks for that.. Thought so - I can't actually take codeine so will leave the co-codamol but try the panadol extra. Wheat bag is actually working well now. Enjoy your day x
